Mini Mite Jamboree 3/20/21

Well, another season of coaching hockey came to an end today with our annual Mini Mite Jamboree. It certainly was a different season, with masks, social distancing, temperature checks, Covid release forms and a six week break due to the pandemic. Over 30 kids on one sheet of ice divided up into three rinks for two hours of games. The players, parents & grandparents had a great time. After the Jamboree, we took the traditional "Stanley Cup" picture in front of the nets, followed by the trophy presentation. Each player received a goody bag full of treats collected by the families. The families were VERY generous to me with gift cards to my favorite places. How did they know Coach Ron loves double stuff Oreos??? I love getting hockey artwork from my players and I got a bunch. The highlight of the day was when I received the Thomas D. Gilson award from the Association. It was the second time in my AAAHA coaching career, I received this award. (Way back in 09/10 as well) It is given to the coach, manager or volunteer who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to amateur hockey. So it looks like 3 weeks off to relax until spring hockey starts April 10th.
